Park in the large parking area on the west side of the highway. The ride begins at the Tenth Mountain Division Memorial on the east side of US 24. Use caution when crossing the highway! This parking area has pit toilets.
The Ride:
-0.0 - Starting at the Tenth Mountain Division Memorial, ride east on the road leading into the ski area.
-0.3 - Enter the ski area gate. Continue riding toward the lifts and base area.
-0.5 - Turn right at the base area and follow the road south to the maintenance building. If it's in bloom, take note of the wonderfully fragrant clover growing along the road.
-0.6 - Turn right onto TR 102.
-1.6 - Pass the "Tennessee Pass Cook House" sign.
-1.7 - Bear left at the unmarked fork and continue along on a short section of double-track.
-1.9 - Stay on the main road, passing a faint jeep spur.
-2.8 - Cross through a green gate at the bottom of a relatively short descent. Continue over Tennessee Creek, then turn right at the intersection with TR 102A. Continue on west on TR 102 (East Tennessee Creek Road).
-3.0 - Turn right and cross a small stream at an unmarked intersection.
-3.9 - Make a hard left and look for a sign directing you to the Jenny June Mine. This intersection marks the start of the loop and it begins with a climb to the mine site.
-4.2 - Arrive at the Jenny June Mine. Heed all warnings and if you explore the area use common sense. Also take note of the sign that reads, "You are here:" (wherever that may be). Get ready to rip a rocky downhill.
-5.0 - Turn right at the junction with TR 102. Brace yourself for a bit of climbing.
-6.2 - Close the loop by staying left at the fork. Start the return trip back to the Pass.
-7.2 - Cross the creek and turn left.
-7.4 - Bear left at the fork, continuing over the creek and through the green gate on TR 102.
-8.4 - Pass into the open meadow littered with tree stumps. Continue straight, passing a spur.
-9.6 - You are back at the ski area. Stop, smell the clover, then continue.
-10.1 - Arrive back at the memorial. Carefully cross the highway and find your car. Head off to your next adventure.
