This little traveled, 100% single-track trail is a gem. The single-track is super skinny and winds through deep stands of aspen, far from the all-too-familiar rumble of ATVs, motorcycles, and motor sports enthusiasts. Though the trail is relatively close to developed lands, due to the topography of the surrounding area the route winds deep into isolated wilderness. The result is that you are very likely to see animals not encountered on more popular trails.

Due to the route's remote nature, your group should stick together and DO NOT ride this one alone. While exploring the trail that parallels Twelve Mile Creek from the Sheep Creek Trail, a mountain lion crossed the trail about 150 feet ahead of me. I also found fresh bear scat on the trail. More evidence than I needed to remind me this is bear and lion habitat.

The trailhead is a little far from the highway, but there are numerous primitive campsites at the trailhead and a developed Forest Service campground (Weston Pass) a few miles farther west on CR 22.
